I research Black women's memoir and autobiography as intellectual history.  Specifically, I examine histories of wellness and empowerment to assess legacies of humanities, health, and human rights. My study of life writing posits how personal power and narrative wellness (memoirs about healthy mind, body, and spirit) reinforce social justice. Grounded in Black studies, women's studies, and history, my work is inherently interdisciplinary.
